Kitsap County Commissioner Josh Brown is dedicated to improving the quality of life for Kitsap County residents. As the senior member of the Board of Commissioners, Josh is focused on providing effective and efficient local government for residents of unincorporated Kitsap, while providing strong regional leadership on issues ranging from transportation investments to protecting Puget Sound.

Josh was elected to the Kitsap County Board of Commissioners in 2006. His diverse district spans urban centers such as the City of Bremerton and Silverdale, to the fragile shores of Hood Canal. With nearly 250,000 residents in Kitsap County, Josh is focused on balancing the needs of a growing community, while enhancing the quality of life that makes our community a great place to call home.

After graduating from North Kitsap High School, Josh attended the University of California, Berkeley where he graduated with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and a minor in City & Regional Planning. Josh worked for five years as a licensed broker in the commercial real estate business before moving back home to Kitsap County to make a difference in the community that gave him the foundation to succeed.

Josh has been a strong voice for improving the partnership between county and state government. He serves on the Legislative Steering Committee for the Washington State Association of Counties (WSAC) and served as President of the WSAC’s Western District. He also is a member of the National Association of Counties Transportation Steering Committee.

Josh presently serves as Vice President of the Puget Sound Regional Council (PSRC), the metropolitan planning organization for Kitsap, King, Pierce, and Snohomish counties. Josh represents the interests of Kitsap County while serving on PSRC’s Transportation Committee and Executive Board.

Josh also sits on the board of several local agencies including: Kitsap Transit, Kitsap Health District, Kitsap Consolidated Housing Authority, CENCOM, Emergency Management, and the Hood Canal Coordinating Council.

Josh lives off Anderson Hill Road in Silverdale. He spends his free time fishing, playing guitar and playing baseball---all very poorly.
